$41.84 - 49.70/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.


Description:


NLC's University Arts and Sciences program requires an instructor to teach EDUC 252: Introduction to Reflective Practice in the Fall 2023 semester. This course is a requirement for the Associate of Arts and AHCOTE program and is comprised of a lecture component and a practicum placement. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivery of lectures and arranging and supervising placements. Thus, the successful candidate must be capable of networking to arrange for placements in local School Districts. ****This course will be delivered by videoconference from either the Dawson Creek or Fort St John campus.

This position consists of 60 student contact hours for the lecture and an associated 66 hours for preparation time. In addition, for the 15 practicum hours associated with this course, 22.5 hours of preparation are allotted for arranging practicums, for a total contract of 148.5 hrs.

Qualifications:


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education.
  • Extensive experience as a licensed teacher in a Canadian public-school system
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Committed to student motivation and success; and the
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Education.
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education; and
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
